Welcome to EQC26 Division 1 in Pfaffenhofen an der Ilm, Germany on 23 & 24 May 2026!
After a successful EQC in 2018 we can’t wait to welcome you back to Pfaffenhofen.
Pfaffenhofen an der Ilm
Pfaffenhofen is conveniently located within Germany and Europe and easy to reach by train,
bus, car, or plane.

Pfaffenhofen a. d. Ilm is one of the smaller cities in Germany with only about 25,000 inhabitants. It is located in the state of Bavaria and in a close distance to Munich and Ingolstadt. Pfaffenhofen has a very young and active population with many children, which is why the city shows a strong interest in events such as the EQC D1 2026.
The city of Pfaffenhofen has experience with hosting niche sport events. For instance, it hosted the Huhngolf (Chickengolf) Championship. The population of Pfaffenhofen loves big events with media attention. The city has set its focus on culture, sustainability, recreation and health. Quadball as a sport also mirrors this attitude.
Venue
The stadium is located in the heart of the city, which proves to be very convenient, since grocery stores, pharmacies etc. can be reached within walking distance and the players do not need to depend on cars on Saturday of the tournament. Unfortunately, all shops (except for gas stations and bakeries) are closed on Sundays in Bavaria, so all shopping needs to be done on Saturday).

Travel
Located in the center of Europe and in short distance to the cities Munich and Ingolstadt, Pfaffenhofen can be easily reached by using various transport method which you can see below.
Arrival by Plane
The closest airport is Munich (MUC) Franz-Josef-Strauß Airport. It is one of the largest airports in Europe, connected to almost all destinations within Europe. It has direct flights to several European cities with quadball teams including London, Bologna, Breslau, Warsaw, Paris, Toulouse, Istanbul, Oslo, Madrid, Barcelona and Manchester.
Since a large number of passengers travel from Munich to tourist destinations, especially in southern Europe, people arriving from Italy, Spain and France can expect cheap deals traveling to and from Munich. In addition, a great variety of cheap airlines use this airport, so you might be able to find a deal that suits your budget.
MUC to Munich
The local S-Bahn (commuter train) departs every 5-13 minutes from Munich Airport at a fare of 30.50 € for a group day ticket for max. 5 adults. This ticket can be used within the whole Münchner Verkehrs- und Tarifverbund (MVV, Munich Linked Transport System). You may use this ticket to reach your accommodation within Munich and for further sightseeing within the city. A day Ticket for 1 person costs 16,30 €.
Another (but more expensive) option from Munich Airport to the city are Lufthansa Express Busses, which start at 12 € p.p. and depart every 15 minutes from every terminal to Munich Central Station.
MUC to Pfaffenhofen
The easiest way to travel from Munich Airport to Pfaffenhofen is by train. The journey takes approximately 1.5 hours and people have to interchange once at Munich Central Station. It is recommended to buy a Bayern-Ticket for this trip . The ticket is valid for a whole day and can be used for all regional transport in Bavaria (including regional trains and city busses, excluding EN, IC and ICE trains). The ticket price depends on the amount of people using it. For the maximum amount of 5 people the price is 72.00 € (14.40 € p.p.). For 1 person the Bayern Tickets costs 32 €.
A regular one way ticket from Munich Airport to Pfaffenhofen costs around 14 €, from Munich central station around 9 €.
MUC to Ingolstadt
There are two options available to travel from Munich Airport to Ingolstadt. Firstly, the Airport-Express-Ingolstadt bus (X109) departs hourly from both the airport and the city. A ticket can be purchased at the bus driver for 28.00 € p.p.; the whole trip takes about 1 hour.
The other option is to take a train, as recommended for Pfaffenhofen, and purchase a Bayern-Ticket for groups (see above). The total duration varies between 1 hour 45 minutes and 2 hours.
Arrival by Train
The train station of Pfaffenhofen is located in the center of the city. Train tickets within Germany and long distance tickets can be purchased cheaply on the website of Deutsche Bahn (www.bahn.de) which is available in English, too. If purchased a few months in advance there are usually very cheap “Sparpreis” deals (special savings offer) for about 30 € within Germany available. Internationally, the prices depend on the agreements between the foreign national train companies and Deutsche Bahn. Generally, you can expect to be routed via Munich Central Station or Ingolstadt Central Station and then have to interchange from ICE or IC to regional trains.
Arrival by Long Distance Bus
As most cities in Germany, Munich is easily reached by long distance buses. The largest long distance bus company in Germany is Flixbus (www.flixbus.de) which operates all over Europe and has direct routes from Milan, Vienna, Paris, Brussels, London, Prague as well as other large European cities. Especially the overnight buses are very affordable and faster than the busses operated during the day. Munich has several long distance bus stations, the largest one being the one at the central train station.
Arrival by Car
Germany has a well established and dense system of high speed motorways (Autobahn) which make it easy to cover large distances within relatively short time. Pfaffenhofen is located 10 minutes away from the motorway A9, one of the largest motorways in Germany. Travelling to Pfaffenhofen by car takes about 8 hours from Brussels or Paris and 10 hours from Rome. The city offers a lot of parking spots in close proximity to the venue.
Transportation within Pfaffenhofen

Bus line 4 can be taken from the Central Station (“Bahnhof”) to the station “Eisstadion Freibad” which is located right next to the pitches. The bus in Pfaffenhofen is inexpensive, one-way tickets are 3 € p.p., a ticket for the whole day 6.20 € and a “Partner-Tagesfahrschein” for a maximum number of 5 people is 11.20 € for the whole day.
Pfaffenhofen has a number of local taxi companies, but as taxis are generally very expensive in Germany, we do not recommend taking a taxi.
Volunteer Experience
All non-playing volunteers will receive free accommodation in a gym – please bring your own mattress and sleeping bag.
Non-playing volunteers preferring a bed will have the option to upgrade to a bed in Hotel Alea City close to the pitches for a fee. Pitch managers and pitch assistants will receive this upgrade for free.
We will offer breakfast at the venue for all non-playing volunteers and a voucher for lunch.

This means that should your team’s dedicated Flag Runner(s) no longer be capable of fulfilling this duty (e.g. due to injury or the person having to leave the event early), then one or two replacements from your team must report to the committee to fill this role and (D1 only:) show their certification.

The Pitch Manager will decide which position each volunteer will fill, usually going by the game schedule, but has the right to change if necessary to avoid game delays.
