IQA COVID-19 Updates

Dear members of the quidditch community

We would like to share with you some shared considerations, information and thoughts regarding the current health emergency related to the spread of COVID-19 that we have been heavily monitoring all over the world and have led to health authorities and national governments strengthening rules and regulations around public gatherings and other activities for the protection of public health.

The safety of the community is our first priority above all, but especially in this difficult period, we hope that you and your loved ones are safe. We recommend you follow the guidelines from your local health authorities and the World Health Organization’s advice. (https://www.who.int/…/novel…/advice-for-public).

The IQA has also been evaluating the next actions regarding this summer’s World Cup, in collaboration with our event partners at US Quidditch. We have been in contact with NGBs representatives to ensure that all the information is shared with them in a timely manner. If you would like to share your concerns and thoughts regarding World Cup, please reach out to events@iqasports.com. We recommend NGB leadership to frequently check the IQA Members Slack and actively participate in conversations there.

Our final thoughts go to countries all over the world who have already been heavily affected by this pandemic. We sincerely feel for you and we know that this is a stressful time and for some, the burden is heavier than ever. As quidditch organizers, we all recommend you follow your health authority’s guidelines. While it’s necessary that we keep physical distance because of COVID-19, we must be virtually closer as a community, supporting each other in this difficult time. The spirit of inclusion is at the very foundation of our sport and it should lead our actions and motivate us now more than ever.
